Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. Its mission is to inspire interest in mathematics, promote strong scholarship, and encourage enjoyment of the subject among students.
Founded in 1957, Mu Alpha Theta is supported by leading mathematics organizations, including the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), with representation from the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.
Today, Mu Alpha Theta includes more than 2,000 chapters and over 99,000 student members nationwide. The organization supports students through scholarships, grants, awards, a national convention, and free mathematics competitions.
